Ewing Athletics, the first independent basketball brand founded by NBA Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing, has released a brand-new sneaker in collaboration with Tha Dogg Pound, made up of the west coast hip-hop duo Kurupt Young Gotti and Daz Dillinger. The Rogue x Dogg Pound sneaker was inspired by Dogg Food, the critically acclaimed Dogg Pound album released in 1995 on Death Row Records. Ewing Athletics has a rich history of collaborating with iconic hip-hop artists like EPMD, Big Pun, Ghostface, Ultramagnetic MCs, ODB (Ol’ Dirty Bastard), and Big L.
The limited-release Rogue x Dogg Pound sneaker is available here, and features a forefoot cross strap support system, neoprene midfoot inserts, and an EVA midsole for lightweight cushioning.
“We’re paying tribute to this landmark album with this collaborative Rogue x Dogg Pound sneaker, complete with special packaging and custom Dogg Pound branding,” said David Goldberg, head of Ewing Athletics.
Tha Dogg Pound was signed to Death Row Records in their early careers and was crucial to the label’s success with Daz & Kurupt appearing on Dr. Dre‘s 1992 solo debut The Chronic, Snoop Dogg‘s 1993 debut Doggystyle, and soundtracks to the films Above The Rim, Poetic Justice, and the Murder Was The Case short film.
