We caught up with the young budding artist as he was preparing to release his dope new single “What They Want” featuring Pacman da Gunman directed by CrimeCityFilms.
Shout out to all of the artists that are giving back to their communities for the hoidays. Cudahy raised rapper Annimeanz will be providing Turkey’s for needy families in his city this upcoming Thanksgiving. The Turkey drive does not have a date yet but details will be provided next week. Cudahy is a small city within Los Angeles that is mostly populated by Hispanics. The city has been impoverished as an overlooked and neglected part of Los Angeles as detailed in a lot of the music by Annimeanz. This will be the first of many ways that the artist will be giving back to his neighborhood and community.

He had that infamous million dollar plus deal with Sony but they did away with their urban division and left him stranded. After that he got out of that deal and Mack 10 assisted in getting him a contract with Cash Money Records. For many reasons that deal didn’t work out to expectations and Glasses struck out on his own journey to learn the science of making records. Cali Swag District shook up the world with their “Teach Me How To Dougie” hit and helped to usher in the new era of West Coast music around 10 years ago. Time flies, right? After the tragedies of losing members MBone and JayAre, surviving members Smoove and OFB Yung have been putting out music as solo artists. OFB Yung is back with a new banger “Back It Up (Barry Bonds)” and this is one that Party DJ’s and Radio DJ’s will love to spin.
Spanish Fly put it down back in the day with their independent hit “Soy 18 With A Bullet” but the group has been revamped with the additions of Annimeanz, Johnny D and MOC. Ese Daz, an original founding member, oversees the music as a producer but the new additions to the group add a lyricism that brings instant respect. These guys can hang with anybody in Hip-Hop and although their members also have solo careers, as a collective they are a powerful force. WestCoastStyles caught up with Ese Daz, Johnny D, and MOC of the group. We tried to get Annimeanz but there were some technical difficulties. He was repped in spirit though. The West Coast duo along with General Jeff gave us that bass which went on to become the Miami sound thanks to the 2 Live Crew who were originally from California and close friends of the group. Although the group no longer exists, their impact is still felt in today’s hip-hop world as Super Star 21 Savage has resurrected a Rodney O & Joe Cooley classic “Nobody Disses Me” for his bangin’ track “Steppin’ On N*ggas”. Xzibit, B-Real and Demrick are teaming up once again to form the Serial Killers as this will be their 2nd project as a collective. The trio came out with their first project back in 2012 so after an 8 year gap we are now getting the “Summer of Sam” album. The spooky name is a play on the notorious Spike Lee film about the New York Son of Sam mass murderer. The October 16th release will feature Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg, and DJ Quik.
When we interviewed Jayo Felony last month< we were surprised to learn that Jayo Felony was considering recording an album with his now former San Diego rival Mitchy Slick. The two have been at odds for years for things that have gone beyond rap and into the world of street gangs. Jayo, who has grown as a man over the years, revealed that thanks to Xzibit he was able to do some shows with the Strong Arm Steady crew (of which Mitchy belongs to) and the two also took pictures together to show their new solidarity. Now we also had the chance to chop it up with Mitchy Slick, so of course we had to mention Jayo's words and from his reception he seems to be on board with the project. If the two ever come around to doing it, it would be an epic album to say the least. In Los Angeles, Crips and Bloods have been coming together for years but San Diego hasn't broken that ice like L.A. has. It would be big for them.
