Afroman Announces New Album “Lemon Pound Cake” Dropping September 30

Grammy-nominated comedic rapper Afroman, who released the stoner-lifestyle anthem “Because I Got High” in 2001 and subsequently brought his songs of wit, weed, and deep-fried funk to the masses, has announced he’s dropping an upcoming album entitled Lemon Pound Cake on September 30.

“Because I Got High” was used in various films and television productions over the years including the soundtrack to Kevin Smith‘s film Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, and shock-jock radio host Howard Stern also boosted the popularity of the track by playing it on his radio show. “Because I Got High” went on to become a huge worldwide hit by the end of 2001, and was nominated for a Best Rap Grammy in 2002.

Afroman has released an incredible 16 studio albums including 1998’s My Fro-losophyBecause I Got High in 2000, and The Good Times in 2001. His latest release is 2017’s Cold Fro-T-5 and Two Frigg Fraggs, along with the 2020 EP Don’t Sell Your Dope and the 2021 addendum to his best-known track, “Cuz I’m High.”
