(Los Angeles) A legendary former member of the group, The Pharcyde, makes his return to hip-hop with the release of a new album! Derrick “Fatlip” Stewart, a major contributor to the group’s two groundbreaking albums “Bizarre Ride To The Pharcyde” and “Labcabincalifornia”, is set to release his solo project “Torpor” with producers Sccit & Siavash The Grouch.
Torpor is a state of hibernation, in which the artist is waking up from. “This record was a longtime coming” says Fatlip. “Get ready for a beast to come outta hibernation” he added. This album theme is highlighted in the track “Wake Up” featuring RBX, famed contributor to The Chronic album by Dr. Dre. The video to the song also brings light to the sub-theme of the album which is the “torpor” in which the city of Los Angeles is in with regards to the rising homeless situation. Homelessness is at an all time high due to city politicians contributing with dirty politics and the turning a blind eye.
Two singles from the Torpor album have been released, “Dust In The Wind” featuring Krayzie Bone and the previously mentioned “Wake Up” with RBX. However fans will be treated to the long awaited reunion of the original Pharcyde group on two songs from the album. One of the group’s songs is “My Bad” which shows the members apologizing to each other for their years of fighting. The song also features Butch Cassidy on the hook and is co-produced by Jellyroll.
