Legendary Dallas, Texas Emcee/Songwriter The D.O.C., who began writing for Eazy-E and N.W.A. during the mid-80s and later broke out on the scene with a Dr. Dre-produced 1989 classic debut album No One Can Do It Better, sat down with Talib Kweli and Jasmin Leigh on the People’s Party With Talib Kweli podcast.

During his appearance on the podcast, the D.O.C. discussed a multitude of topics including what it was like to grow up in Dallas, Texas as an aspiring emcee, how he met Dr. Dre of the World Class Wrecking Cru, D.O.C.’s importance to The Chronic and why he rarely listens to the album, and how the Deuce album was originally intended to be released under the name of rapper 6Two.

Also on the latest episode of the People’s Party With Talib Kweli podcast, The Diggy Diggy Doc talks about The car crash that damaged his voice following the release of his debut album, why D.O.C. found jail time easier than studio time at Death Row Records, being jealous of LL Cool J back in the day and Rakim changing the game, leaving Ruthless and choosing to stay out of the beef between Dr. Dre and Eazy-E, and so much more.
