For the first time ever, former Cellblock Recordsartists Rappin’ Ron & Ant Diddley Dog will have their Bad N-Fluenz album available on vinyl via Hella Dope Records.
Originally released in 1995, this Oakland, California classic features Too Short, Ant Banks, Mr. ILL, Seagram, and Street Thugs.
Legendary west coast producer Ant Banks produced several songs on the duo’s Cellblock Records debut including “The Bomb”, “All Rapped Up”, “You Ain’t Heard Nothing Yet”, and “Maniac Mind”.
Hella Dope Records is re-releasing the album in a bundle pack which includes the following:

Cellblock Records was an Oakland, CA-based record label in the mid-90’s which boasted a collection of high-powered artists like Rappin’ Ron & Ant Diddley Dog of the Bad N-Fluenz click, Mr. ILL, FM Blueand others. The label had deep connections with Too Short’s imprint Dangerous Music as the artists and producers off the labels often collaborated with each other.
Too Short recently released some Cellblock’s catalog in a Greatest Hits format with songs like the original version of “I Can’t Turn Back” featuring 2Pac& Spice 1, “Flossn” by Father Dom, “Deep Shit” by Bad N-Fluenz, “Crooked” with FM Blue, and “Am I Dreaming” from the late MC Breed. The collection also features production from Ant Banks, Black Jack, Tone Capone, and Terry T to name a few.

Earlier this month, Rockstar Games introduced a new story entitled “The Contract” featuring new tasks, new music, DJ Pooh, Anderson .Paak, and Dr. Dre.
One of the highlights of the release was the fact that Dr. Dre would be releasing 6 new tracks in the game. The Contract” finds the music mogul needing help because he lost his phone which contains his unreleased music. So, the mission is to find the producer’s lost cell phone full of the unheard musical gems and return it to him.
Today, (December 30) Dr. Dre and Rockstar Games release the 6-track GTA Online: The Contract EP featuring Nipsey Hussle, Snoop Dogg, Anderson . Paak, Busta Rhymes and others.

Hailing from Los Angeles via Hawaii is Bel Air Rene’e bringing the sound of the islands mixed with a West Coast vibe. Her new song and video “To The Beat” will make you long for a Summer vacation.
Despite being released over 16 years ago, Eminem’s Curtain Call: The Hits was one of the 50 highest-selling albums in 2021 (#49). According to data released on Monday from Hits Daily Double, when factoring in pure album sales, album-equivalent units, audio streams, and video streams, Em’s compilation sold 673,000 copies.
Curtain Call also holds the record for the longest-charting rap album in history, having spent 550 weeks (and counting) on the Billboard Top 200. In total, the project has sold over 7 million copies.
In addition to including Eminem’s biggest hits up to that point, the album also had new material such as “Fack,” “Shake That” with Nate Dogg [R.I.P.], “When I’m Gone,” and a recording of his 2001 Grammy performance of “Stan” with Elton John.
According to Billboard, Cudi’s third offering in the Man on the Moon series sold 41,500 vinyl copies last week. The number itself is impressive as it put him in good company right behind other recent high-sellers such as Adele, Taylor Swift, and Bo Burnham.
However, the major accomplishment is that that number is the highest sales number in a week for vinyl for not just a Hip-Hop act but a male artist in Nielsen history. Kid Cudi took to social media to celebrate!

BELLA is one of the West Coast’s hottest new acts as her fanbase continues to get bigger everytime she releases something. Over the weekend, the Los Angeles female emcee dropped a new video “Down Fall” which is a more serious track from her than what we are used to, showing her versatility and progression as an artist. Nas and Hitboy recording (In Studio) Hip Hop icon, and entrepreneur Nas. Has had recent success while working with producer HitBoy. The duo dropped King’s Disease in 2020 and ultimately won the Queens Bridge legend his 1st Grammy. 2021 saw the sequel drop King’s Disease II. Which was highly regarded as Nas’s best work. With Hit-Boy leveling up his production skills to allow for more cinematic storytelling.
Magic, however, is a little different. More gritty and Hip Hop, heavy soul samples, and cadence switching beats are most of the EP. Nas even mentions a King’s Disease 3 album which is on the way. There aren’t too many features on the album which is dope and something Nas has been known for throughout his career. “Wave Gods” is the exception, the track features A$AP Rocky and Dj Premier and is one of the EP’s standout tracks.
Yesterday (December 25), Snoop Dogg announced he’ll be kicking off the new year with a new solo album coming in January.
Earlier today, DJ Battlecat took to Instagram to drop a sneak-peek of Snoop playing a track off the album featuring Daz & Kurupt of Tha Dogg Pound, produced by DJ Battlecat himself.

Snoop Dogg has had a busy 2021 with several music releases like From Tha Streets 2 Tha Suites and Algorithm, joining Dr. Dre on the GTA V: The Contract track “ETA”, hitting the road with the west coast supergroup Mount Westmore for a few shows, announcing his inclusion in the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show, and so many other endeavors.
Hip-Hop legend Shock G passed away last April of 2021 but before that happened, his manager Atron Gregory recorded him playing the piano and got an album’s worth of material. Although he was known more for rapping and producing skills, Shock G was an accomplished musician and the piano was one of his favorite instruments, so much that he was dubbed “The Piano Man” amongst his many monikers. The album is set for a 2022 release however the first offering from the project was released in early December 2021, his take on Lauryn Hill’s song “To Zion”. Take a listen.

The Doggfather took to Instagram early Christmas morning to wish everyone a merry Christmas and to announce the upcoming project.
No details have been released as to what the album title is or who may be featured or producing on the project, but he did take to the comment section to ask DJ Battlecat where the mixes were.

In addition to releasing a new album, Magic, Nas is also getting attention for clarifying a misconception about his 2006 album. The controversially titled, Hip-Hop is Dead, released in December of 2006, arguably at the height of southern Hip-Hop dominance, was not a comment on rap from that region or anyone in particular.
On a recent episode of The Bridge: 50 Years of Hip Hop, with guest Jeezy, the Snowman indicates that he thought the sentiment of “Hip-Hop is dead” was projected at emcees such as himself.
“At the time, you gotta think, I’m just getting on. I’m just seeing my first legitimate money. I’m just getting my shows going. And then, you got the Don in New York saying ‘Hip-Hop is dead!'”
Mr. Jones went on to clarify the proclamation. “I didn’t think about that part. I didn’t think that certain people would think I’m talking about them. Oh nah, I’m talking about mainly New York! Mainly New York. I’m talking to everybody, but I didn’t explain it thorough enough.”
Nas caught wind of Jeezy’s discontent when he aired his grievances in an interview from around that time. The Queens legend even gave him props for speaking up. “It was big of him to say something; I respected that.”
“Yeah, they got me,” Jeezy explains. “It was early in the morning; I had been doing my promo run, and they [the press] asked (about Hip-Hop is Dead), and I said what I said.”
Not long after, Jeezy discusses how they got on the phone and cleared the air. “Men get on the phone, they figure things out, and then they make history. We (Nas and I) made history with “My President is Black,” and we had some good times doing it.”
Uncle Chucc of the production ensemble 1500 or Nothin’ just dropped the Trap Christmas EP. The 6-track project features Knotch, KG, Miss Blizz, Sheena Player, and Blaq Thompson.
The multi-instrumentalist has released his Be Your Teddy Bear solo album through Snoop Dogg’s label Doggy Style Records, and has a gospel album with The Zion Messengers, No One But You.

Tha Chill, as an artist and producer, has worked with many of rap’s biggest stars like MC Ren, MC Eiht, with whom he co-founded Compton’s Most Wanted, Snoop Dogg, Redman, Battlecat, Nate Dogg, King T, Kurupt, Warren G, and others.
Getting started with his C.M.W. crew of MC Eiht, Boom Bam, DJ Mike T, and DJ Ant Capone, Tha Chill began selling records and producing hits before most of you favorite rappers or producers. His work with C.M.W. and MC Eiht is well-documented, but it’s his solo work and productions out side of that is what has been underrated. Some of these masterpieces include “Shot Caller” for MC Ren’s last Ruthless Records album, Ruthless For Life in 1998, “Run On Up” and “Ups & Downs” for Snoop Dogg, Warren G, and Nate Dogg on the highly-anticipated 213 project in 2004, and “Get’em” on Redman’s Red Gone Wild: Thee Album in 2007 to name a few.

The D.O.C., who most recently collaborated with super-producer Dr. Dre and Eminem for the “Gospel” song off GTA V: The Contract was answering a few questions from fans on Twitter over the last coupe of days. When the legendary rapper/writer was asked about a possible new Dr. Dre album coming in 2022, the Diggy-Diggy DOC retweeted that he thinks Dre is gearing up for something and that he’s happy the producer is considering doing something.

West coast legend and pioneer Too Short recently dropped his new single, “Nasty Dance”, with a live performance on the Encore: Interactive Live Music app. Now, the bay area icon has released an official video the the new single, animated by Shannon Steger of Joshua 1:9 Productions.
There is no word if this single is for a new album coming from Too Short, or a part of another project.
Too Short, along with Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, and E-40 recently performed in Lexington, KY at Rupp Arena, where they each went through their vast, and classic catalogs, as well as premiered a new music video entitled, “Bad Muthafucka”.

Last month, KRS-One released the Sun One-produced “Knock Em Out” song, and now the blastmater just dropped his newest single, “The Beginning” via R.A.M.P Entertainment. The new track is also produced by Sun One as well.
KRS-One was the leader of Boogie Down Productions, one of the most influential hardcore hip-hop outfits of the ’80s. At the height of his career KRS-One was known for his furiously political and socially conscious raps, which is the source of his nickname, “the Teacher.”

In an emotional interview with Rolling Stone, Darrylene Corniel, mother of Drakeo the Ruler, said that she will not rest until justice is served for her son. Drakeo, born Darrell Caldwell, was killed at the Once Upon a Time in L.A. Music Festival on Saturday night when he was stabbed in the neck backstage.
“He was hit in his neck. I saw him when I went to the hospital. They said it’s a homicide, so I wasn’t able to hug him or kiss him or anything like that. I had to look at him through a window,” Darrylene Corniel told the publication in an interview at her Los Angeles residence. “I need this to be out there. I need people to know. And I do want justice for my son. And I do believe that justice will be served. I will not rest until justice is served.”
Ms. Corniel continued by saying that they plan to sue. “This happened backstage at an event. Someone has to be held accountable.”
The concert was put on by Live Nation at the Banc of California stadium in L.A.’s Exposition Park. In an e-mail sent on Monday to Rolling Stone a rep for Live Nation said, ““We are extremely saddened by the passing of Drakeo The Ruler. Our thoughts go out to his loved ones and fans and we’re doing everything we can to assist authorities in their investigation.”
“He planned to do so much,” Corniel said. “He wanted to help the homeless and do something for children who were needy. And he wanted to take care of his family. That is one of the reasons he got into the industry, because he wanted to help his family. He saw what his mother went through, raising him as a single mother, going to school, getting my degree with no help. Darrell wanted to help everybody.”

Different reports are coming in about the condition of Drakeo the Ruler but what can be confirmed is that he was attacked backstage at the Once Upon A Time in L.A. music festival and stabbed in the neck. Sources have told us that the weapon used in the attack was a broken bottle.
It is not known if the rapper is alive or just critically injured as reports habe varied but either way this is a sad day for Los Angeles, especially having lost Slim 400 last week to gang violence. All we can do is hope and pray for the best at this point. As soon as we receive concrete confirmation of anything, we will let you know.
As we all know by now, The Contract DLC pack for GTA is here bringing the iconic Dr. Dre in to the wild world of Los Santos.
One of the new tracks introduced in to the game by Dr. Dre is a dope Dem Jointz produced cut that has Dre rhyming with Thurz formerly of U-N-I called “Falling Up”. We spoke to Thurz about linking up with Dre and this is what the Inglewood rapper had to say: “Working with Dre is a course in mastery. The integrity of the song is on the highest pedestal and everyone in the room is an instrument. I’m blessed to contribute to anything he’s a part of”.

Last week, Rockstar Games released the GTA Online: The Contract story, in which Dr. Dre has lost his phone containing unreleased music and the game player gets the chance to recover it and hear the music.
The songs featured in GTA Online: The Contract include “Gospel” featuring Eminem, “The Scenic Route,” ft. Rick Ross & Anderson .Paak, “Fallin’ Up” ft. Marsha Ambrosius, “ETA,” ft. Anderson .Paak, Snoop Dogg & Busta Rhymes, “Diamond Mind” with the late Nipsey Hussle & Ty Dolla $ign, and the Dr. Dre solo effort “Black Privilege”.
