Dom Kennedy Announces Release Date for “From the Westside With Love Three”

[ Los Angeles, CA ] – One of Los Angeles most sought out rappers, Dom Kennedy announces the release date of his forthcoming album “From The Westside With Love Three” set to drop October 15, 2021 which follows the success off of his first and second release of From The Westside With Love.

“From The Westside With Love” originally dropped as a mixtape in March 2010 and later in June 2011 came “From the Westside with Love II” which  is the debut studio album for Dom Kennedy. The album features artists from Asher Roth,  Mikey Rocks, Polyester, Big K.R.I.T., Casey Veggies, and Schoolboy Q. The album charted #19 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and #15 Billboard’s Independent Albums.

Dom Kennedy has taken over the rap game by storm by working with acts such as Kehlani, Big Sean, Hit-Boy, Nipsey Hussle and more. With a forthcoming album set to release this Spring, Dom Kennedy is set to dominate 2021.

Born in Los Angeles, CA, Dom Kennedy is an artist with a fiercely independent streak. With a style that pairs simple lyricism with a knack for narration, Kennedy took inspiration from rap legends such as DJ Quick, Tupac, and the Notorious B.I.G. Kennedy made his debut in 2008 with “25th Hour”, “From The Westside With Love” in 2010, and “The Original Dom Kennedy” in 2011. By this point, he had begun touring across the U.S. and internationally, playing a show in Djibouti, Africa. Not being able to find a fair deal to suit him, the talented MC instead started his own label, The OPM Company (Other People’s Money), which he has used to release his own albums as well as for others. “From the Westside With Love II”arrived in 2011 and was a success, hitting the top 100 of the Billboard 200 Album Chart. Kennedy shortly after released “The Yellow Album” with the lead single “My Type Of party”, this mixtape is regarded as an all time favorite worldwide. From Kennedy himself, “my music has always been about evolution, results may vary but I have tried to remain responsible to what I was feeling at the time. I wouldn’t have lasted any amount of time without the fans so I thank them. OPM till it’s over.”

Eminem Opens ‘Mom’s Spaghetti’ Restaurant Today in Detroit

In addition to being part of a line in one of the biggest songs in history, Eminem’s “Lose Yourself,” Mom’s Spaghetti is now a food spot in Detroit, Michigan. It first appeared as a pop-up shop at The Shelter in 2017 in conjunction with the release of Eminem’s Revival. And during the pandemic, Shady Records helped arrange for Mom’s Spaghetti to be delivered to front-line workers and those administering vaccination shots in the Motor City. However, today, at 5 PM EST, its permanent location, 2131 Woodward Ave., will have its grand opening.

Eminem’s manager Paul Rosenberg said in a press statement, “The previous pop-ups were really a test for us to determine whether there was enthusiasm for a regularly-occurring Mom’s Spaghetti spot that would be open all year long.”

The menu is simple with a mere three items (not counting a beverage): a plate of Mom’s Spaghetti, Mom’s Spaghetti with meatballs [or a vegan option known as “rabbit balls”], and a Sghetti Sandwich.

Union Joints Restaurant Group has worked with Eminem’s team on Mom’s Spaghetti from the jump and continues to be very enthusiastic about the project.

“The opportunity to build a permanent location based on an incredibly meta-reference was one that everyone at Union Joints, as a Metro Detroit restaurant group, took very seriously,” Union Joints co-owner Curt Catallo said.

The eatery will be a walk-up window, and located above it will be a retail space called The Trailer where patrons can purchase Mom’s Spaghetti merchandise and other Eminem retail items and memorabilia.

Check out the TV Spot for it below!

2Pac’s “Toss It Up” Turns 25

Released a quarter of a century ago today (09/26/1996), the first single from the Tupac album, The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory, recording under the alias Makaveli, was unleashed. Dr. Dre originally produced the song. However, when he left Death Row Records, he took that track with him and developed what would eventually become “No Diggity” for Blackstreet. As a result of a cease and desist order by the court, Death Row replaced Dre’s production, and the new beat is on the final product.

“Toss It Up” peaked at number 34 on the R&B singles chart and came out just shy of two weeks after Shakur’s passing.  The music video for the record is the last one that Pac ever did.

Joyner Lucas & J. Cole Drop New Song “Your Heart”

On September 24, critically acclaimed independent rapper Joyner Lucas harmonized with fellow emcee J Cole for an eye-opening collaboration entitled “Your Heart.” Produced by Palaze, LC and Hagan and co-directed by Joyner Lucas and Ben Proulx, Lucas called out an angry ex-girlfriend set on revenge at all costs. And just as you’re really sympathizing with him, J Cole flips the perspective to reveal that the blame actually lied with his friend who was disloyal first and is now reaping what he sowed. The head nodding track tears apart your typical breakup song.
Last month, Joyner Lucas presented Joyner Fest in his hometown of Worcester, Massachusetts. During the sold-out event, Joyner Lucas performed alongside Lil Skies and Milliz at The Palladium Outdoors.
“Your Heart” follows the Worcester rapper’s controversial and thought-provoking Lil Tjay collaboration “Dreams Unfold” and the Lil Baby featured “Ramen & OJ” which topped out on Spotify’s RapCaviar playlist and now has over 75m streams on Spotify. Moreover, fans can also enjoy Lucas’ track “Shoot My Shot” on the official Space Jam 2 Soundtrack. His latest album, EVOLUTION, is available now at all DSPs and streaming services via Twenty Nine Music Group/TheOrchard. The album includes such tracks as “Like A River (Feat. Elijah James),” “Snitch,” and “Fall Slowly (Feat. Ashanti),” all joined by official music videos streaming now at YouTube.

“Your Heart” is a fully independent production, created with the groundbreaking artists platform, Tully, with distribution with Twenty Nine Music Group. Co-founded by Lucas and manager/technology entrepreneur Dhruv Joshi, the Tully Platform empowers Artists and Artist Management teams to control their workflows while managing work product and studio assets in one place. By reducing his overheads, Lucas was able to put all his focus and the power of his team behind the track’s creation to create a truly one-of-a-kind collaboration. Lucas hopes to inspire other independent artists to do it their own way going forward. Tully is available now via Apple’s App Store and Google Play; for more information, please visit tullyapp.com.

Hip-Hop Icon Doug E. Fresh Salutes The Godfather Of Go-Go Music With New Release “This One’s For Chuck Brown”

Hip hop icon Doug E. Fresh has just released a new collection of music, This One’s For Chuck Brown, a salute to the godfather of Go-Go Music. This marks Fresh’s first full length release since 1995.

Stemming out of Washington, D.C., Go-Go music erupted in the ‘70’s though went on to gain greater national exposure. Brown was not only a local legend, but a musical pioneer who scored a 1979 top 10 R&B hit with “Bustin’ Loose,” later sampled by rapper Nelly in his 2002 chart-topping, Grammy-winning single, “Hot in Herre.”

Brown went on to inspire many, including Fresh, who took the unforeseen time offstage due to the 2020 lockdown to work on this self-proclaimed “passion project.” This One’s For Chuck is a salute to one of Fresh’s late musical mentors, but it also served as a therapeutic reprieve from the tumult of recent times. It’s a means to sonically transport listeners to happier times and unite hip-hop and go-go audiences. Recently, the Recording Academy announced that the Go-Go genre has been added as a Grammy sub-category.

The album kicks off with “Chuck Brown,” an audio history lesson of Brown’s significance, and seamlessly weaves a mixture of original recordings and go-go renditions of some of his own hip-hop fan-favorites. Elsewhere on the album, he delivers new, live versions of “Play This Only at Night,” “Come Again, and “The Show,” re-imagined with go-go instrumentation, recorded live in Washington, DC. “The Show” features a guest appearance by Fresh’s longtime friend and one-time beatbox mentee-turned-lovable hip-hop great, the recently departed Biz Markie.

Fresh has been adapting various elements of Brown’s unique call-and-response performance style into his live shows since the two first met in 1985 when Brown’s band was the opening act at a DC arena Fresh headlined. Peering from behind the curtain, Fresh became entranced by Brown’s band’s tribal groove and the rhythmic interplay between the drummer, conga player, and other percussionists, which ebbed and flowed as Brown and other vocalists engaged with the audience for a fully immersive, communal celebration. Given Fresh’s innate ability to mimic various drum patterns with his mouth, he instinctively took to the DC go-go scene, often performing with Chuck Brown and other local bands, even releasing his own 1988 go-go classic, “I’m Getting Ready,” which remains in regular rotation across DC radio.

Harlem born, but globally recognized as the Original Human Beatbox, Fresh has amassed countless awards for his mesmerizing beatbox abilities, catchy rhymes, signature dance moves, and masterful command of audiences. His popularity spans generations. Nearly a dozen millennial rappers have written songs in tribute to him, most notably the 2009 breakout hit “Teach Me How to Dougie,” which spawned the international “Dougie” dance craze, a nod to moves Fresh created in the 80s.

Fresh’s career has remained active for nearly four decades, thanks, in part, to his cultural classics “The Show” and “La Di Da Di,” both released in the mid 1980’s. To date, “La Di Da Di” holds the unique honor as one of the top five most sampled songs of all time, with use by BeyonceMariah CareyMiley Cyrus, the Beastie BoysLL Cool JWill SmithSnoop Dogg, the Notorious B.I.G, and more than 1000 other artists (according to a 2019 Wall Street Journal report).
