Ganxsta Ridd of The Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E Passes Away

Ganxsta Ridd of the legendary Carson, CA based Samoan rap group The Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E. passed away last night from complications of Covid-19. Ridd (Paul Devoux) along with his brothers formed The Boo-Yaa group in the 80’s after touring Japan as dancers known as the Blue City Crew. The brothers earned their skills as musicians in their father’s church but also were certified gang members from Piru, Blood and Crip sets. They scored their breakout hit “R.A.I.D” in 1989 and have continually released music throughout the years including 2003’s “911” that included Eminem and B-Real off of the West Koasta Nostra album. Ganxsta Ridd as a solo artist was a part of the revamped Death Row Records rechristened as Tha Row and appeared on the Dysfunktional Family soundtrack. This is the group’s second tragic loss in recent years as older brother The Godfather passed away in 2018. WestCoastStyles sends our condolences to the Devoux family.
