Ice Cube Drops New Single “Trying To Maintain”

West Coast icon Ice Cube dropped the new record “Trying To Maintain” on Friday, February 5, 2021. Produced by Hallway Productionz, the track is Cube’s first new solo music since 2018’s Everythang’s Corrupt.

While this is his first solo single he’s released since 2018, he has more new music on the way, with the collaborative Mt. Westmore group he formed with Snoop Dogg, Too $hort and E-40. They are expected to drop a new album this year.

Prior to releasing “Trying to Maintain”, Cube wanted to make sure people were clear by tweeting, “Clarity: New solo song… still finishing up that Mt. Westmore album.”

The Gangster Chronicles podcast, with former gangster/convict and biker James McDonald, legendary West Coast gangster rapper MC Eiht and music insider Norm Steele, recently had music veteran Stan Sheppard on the show. Stan Sheppard has managed everyone from Battlecat and DJ Quik, to Suga Free and the late great Mausberg.

Ice Cube Set to Release New Song on Friday

Earlier this afternoon, Hip-Hop legend Ice Cube went on social media to announce that he is releasing a new song in two days. Considering how his Contract with Black America made headlines last year when it got the attention of former President Donald Trump, it will be interesting to see how people will receive Cube’s latest music. Many incorrectly interpreted Cube’s willingness to communicate with Trump’s camp about the contract as a sign of allegiance to the controversial political figure and businessman. Additionally, Cube has also recently put out new material as part of the supergroup Mount Westmore alongside Snoop Dogg, E-40, and Too Short.
