The Los Angeles Dodgers have teamed up with renowned tattoo artist and creative Mister Cartoon for an exclusive player t-shirt series to coincide with Opening Day at Dodger Stadium. The reimagined t-shirt series features three players, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Julio Urías, and will be available for purchase starting Thursday, the first day of the 2023 regular season.
The Dodgers-Mister Cartoon shirts come in two colors and will be sold exclusively at Dodger Stadium. In a promotional video shared by the team, the shirts look impressive and are likely to be a hit among fans.
In the past, the Dodgers have collaborated with Undefeated, Union Los Angeles, Born X Raised, and Bricks and Wood, among others. However, this latest partnership with Mister Cartoon is expected to stand out from previous collaborations due to the unique designs and creativity of the famed artist.
Mister Cartoon has made a name for himself in Los Angeles by creating a wide range of murals, album covers, logos, and well-known tattoo designs. He has also worked with several big corporations, including Apple, Nike, Model, Disney, and T-Mobile, on various collaborations.
Mister Cartoon previously worked with the Dodgers on a limited-edition 2020 World Series champions card for Topps, which sold out quickly. His creative contribution to the team has been well-received by fans, and this partnership is another example of the Dodgers’ commitment to delivering innovative merchandise to their supporters.
Julio Urías will make his first career Opening Day start and follow in the footsteps of Clayton Kershaw and Walker Buehler. Kershaw holds the franchise record with nine Dodgers Opening Day starts, and like with Buehler last season, is equally excited to watch Urías receive the honor this year.
The Dodgers’ Opening Day at Dodger Stadium will be a night game, which is a rarity for the team. In the past 47 years, they have only played night games on Opening Day in 1995, 2011, and 2020. While their 2022 home opener was also at night, it was not the first game of the season.
