Trump’s Place in Crime History: An Interview with Gregg Barak

Hip-Hop music is  a voice for the voiceless. It has never been afraid to speak up for the underdogs or those facing oppression. One of the things that responsibility entails is holding those in power and with power accountable for their actions.

Donald Trump is someone who has long had power and never shied away from abusing it. Unfortunately, he also became the President of the United States. During his time in office, his amoral behavior continued and hurt our wonderful country and the rest of the world.

And in addition to Hip-Hop calling him out (see Y.G.’s “FDT” and Ice Cube’s “Arrest the President” for a few examples), countless news pieces, articles, and documentaries have scolded him for his numerous wrongdoings. But, in a new book, Criminology on Trump, Emeritus Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Eastern Michigan University approaches it from a different angle. Looking at it through the lens of a criminologist, Barrack evaluates The Donald and argues he is one of the biggest criminals in history.

In an interview with West Coast Styles two days after the release of the book, Barak and I discuss, among other things, how Trump has evaded justice, political elections and how we move forward at a time when politics are more polarizing than ever before.

Check it out below!
