Ice-T Partners With Cheerios For A New Health Campaign

The OG Ice-T has lasted a long time in this game and a lot of it is by being smart in the streets, business and life. So while we are used to the legend portraying hardcore types, Ice is now showing his healthy side by campaigning with Cheerios for healthy hearts. For the past month or so he has been appearing on boxes of Cheerios and Honey Nut Cheerios in the store, but now a new commercial for the limited edition heart shaped version of the cereal is hitting the TV airwaves starting February 1st. Ice-T gave a peak at the spot on his Twitter account. Peep below!

Drakeo The Ruler’s family suing Live Nation

News of the $20 Million lawsuit hit online today after being annoyed on KTLA 5 news. Popular Instagram channel @OnthisdayinHipHop posted a video of the news segment. Drakeo The Ruler’s family has filed a law suit against Live Nation, one of the largest concert event organizers in the nation.

The law suit reportedly claims that Live Nation failed to secure the venue space properly, which resulted in Drakeo being stabbed by a group of rival gang members. All though Drakeo was not a gang member himself, he was associated with people that had ties to the streets.

The “Flu Flamming” rapper rose to notoriety after being arrested for a murder at a house party. Ultimately he would beat the charges and be released from jail. After his release Drakeo would go on to drop several popular songs that would add to his emerging buzz as a top new talent in Los Angeles, even getting a feature from Drake.

The Once Upon a Time in LA festival was being organized and promoted by Live Nation and Bobby D Presents. Throughout the night there were questions as to the setup of the venue, and the lack of security at the venue. Apparently Drakeo showed up to the festival which he was scheduled to perform at. He didn’t have a security detail with him and his team. And was immediately confronted by rivals he had issues with over a diss song he did called “Ingleweird”. Which seemingly was taken as disrespect to the entire city of Inglewood.

In the video clips that were posted online as the fight was taking place, you can see Drakeo and his Stinc Team being back down by a large group of people. It looks as if most of his crew left out a gate, which left Drakeo surrounded by his attackers. He would up being stabbed in the head and neck, and succumbed to his injuries the same night.

Spotify market value drops by $4 Billion

Popular streaming app Spotify took a huge dive on Jan. 28th. Shares closed on Nasdaq down 12%. The cause, Rock n Roll icon Neil Young requested to have his catalog taken off the streaming services platform. Due to popular podcast “The Joe Rogan Show” and host Joe Rogan’s misinformation surrounding the Corona Virus (Covid 19).

Hashtags #DeleteSpotify #CancelSpotify were trending on social media after the Neil Young controversy. Neil Young, ultimately gave Spotify a choice, “you can have either Young or Rogan, but not both”. Joe Rogan had Dr. Robert Malone on his podcast last month. Malone has been banned from Twitter over misinformation regarding the coronavirus. He has become a hero in the anti-vaccination community for falsely suggesting that millions had been hypnotized into believing that vaccines work to prevent serious diseases.

A group of doctors and scientists have a petition online calling for Spotify to adopt policies that prevent the spread of misinformation on their platform. Spotify said in a statement last week that it had removed more than 20,000 podcast episodes related to Covid-19 since the start of  the pandemic. But so far the company has stood by Rogan, who was reportedly paid more than $100 million by the streaming service in exchange for exclusive rights to his podcast.

Neil Young attracts 6 million users per month, while Rogan attracts 11 million user per episode.

LAPD secret program targeted Nipsey Hussle’s shopping center, detailed documents reveal

News is breaking today that the LAPD formed a secret operation to target Nipsey Hussle’s business ventures  in the Crenshaw District. The late rapper along with his brother Blacc Sam, would get their start selling T-shirts and CD’s in a the now famous shopping center on Crenshaw and Slauson.

This being the center of Nipsey Hussle’s neighborhood. It was important  at to Nip to go back and build up that area. He would go on to buy the shopping center and open a flagship store. He would also open up other stores within the center and basically made it a landmark.

Master P drops “Look At All These Haters” response to Wack 100, remix of the classic “Ghetto D”

Hip Hop icon, Master P returns with a new track. A diss towards Wack 100, after Wack took to the popular gossip app Clubhouse, to talk about Master P’s net worth and prior No Limit Records dealings with in-house production team Beats By The Pound. I think it’s important to note that as of October 2021, Forbes has Master P 7th on the richest rappers in the world list, with an estimated $200 Million in assets. I think it’s safe to say, Wack 100 miss spoke in his attempt to defend Nick Cannon, which for some reason came up in conversation on the app.

Since the decline of the No Limit era, Master P has been heavily influential in many different business endeavors. A savvy entrepreneur always diversifies investments to grow their portfolio. Master P, has a food brand, shoes, clothing, and a sports representation agency. All while still working in independent film, television. Master P took to his Instagram and posted a clip of him on Nick Cannons show, with a caption that affirms he and Nick are good with each other and have admiration and respect for one another. Nick Cannon also stated in the clip that Master P was instrumental early in his career granting him opportunities that assisted with him getting started in entertainment.

Chuck D, PBS, and the BBC Join Forces for a New Documentary Series, ‘The Story of Hip-Hop with Chuck D’

“The hip-hop community has, from the start, been doing what the rest of media is only now catching up to,” said Chuck D. “Long before any conglomerate realized it was time to wake up, hip-hop had been speaking out and telling truths. Working with PBS and BBC is an opportunity to deliver these messages through new ways and help explain hip-hop’s place in history and hopefully inspire us all to take it further.”

With words like those and stature as one of the most respected figures in Hip-Hip history, it is only suitable that Chuck D serves as host and part of the name of the upcoming four-part documentary series, The Story of Hip-Hop with Chuck D.

BBC Studios produced the series. No air date is known yet, but the excitement for the project is undoubtedly evident. Chuck himself and his manager Lorrie Boula tell Hip-Hop’s story from its origins to where it is today.
