E-A-Ski Discusses Upcoming New Single “24 Bars Of Terror”

Grammy Award-winning producer E-A-Ski is prepping his latest single, “24 Bars of Terror”, and exclusively spoke with Chad Kiser of West Coast Styles about the concept and significance of the upcoming record.

“24 Bars of Terror is covering a lot of ground. It’s speaking from a perspective that the music industry has gone to a very dark and demonic place,” E-A-Ski states emphatically. “We have a lot of young emcees coming up that are following leads and don’t understand that they’re getting deceived. A lot of people are going to be selling their souls, not knowing what they’re getting involved in. They are going to make records, but not make money because they’ve been taught these formulas that’s just not real. There are going to be a lot more dead urban rappers because of the way the industry is, trying to prove yourselves to the streets. They don’t understand what comes along with that. We’ve lost some of the greatest people that we’ve looked up to that had an entourage of a million people, and they’re still dead. The tough guy stuff has gotta stop. We gotta be realistic on what’s going on and why this stuff is happening, and the agenda behind what’s going on.”

Concluding his thoughts on the song and the industry, Ski continues saying, “So, 24 Bars of Terror is covering a lot of ground in 24 bars just to let people know that Ski is woke. I’ve been doing this, I’ve been seeing this, and I’ve been speaking on this. And now I have to be a little bit more aggressive in getting them to wake up and see that this is not a game, it’s not a joke and we’re going to lose more people if we’re not paying attention to what’s going on.”

The multi-platinum producer has been hard work throughout the last year, as he’s dropped some incredible music with artists like SS From The West (Mood Swingz 2), Thug Misses & Rayven Justice (“Ridah”), and Jon Connor (“Reflect Music”). In addition, Ski dropped the instrumental album Producers vs. Beatmakers, and is putting together upcoming tracks with Richie Rich (“Double Back”), Aobie (“Suicide Watch”, “Trouble Seems To Find Me”), and more.

Stay tuned for more info on E-A-Ski’s “24 Bars of Terror”!

Snoop Dogg & Eminem Collaboration “From Detroit To LBC” To Appear On Mount Westmore Album

Earlier this month, we reported that Snoop Dogg was recently featured on the Rolling Stone Music Now Podcast and spoke with host Brian Hiatt on the making of his biggest songs with Dr. Dre and Pharrell, learning from The D.O.C., doing next year’s Super Bowl halftime show with Kendrick LamarEminem, Dr. Dre, and Mary J. Blige, squashing his beef with “Bitch Please II” collaborator Eminem, shares memories of 2pac and Biggie, and discusses his latest release Algorithm.

Additionally, during the interview, Snoop also revealed that he and Eminem had collaborated on a song titled “From Detroit To LBC”, and that it will appear on the Mount Westmore supergroup album in January 2022. “There is a Snoop Dogg and Eminem song on my Westmore album. It is called ‘From Detroit to the LBC’,” the Long Beach icon reveals. “That’s my Mount Westmore album that is coming out in January and Eminem and Snoop single is featured on there. And that motherfucker slapped. That s**t is huh… It was very challenging for me. Eminem really f**king shot at me. He shot his shot and as a rapper that’s what you want when you get a feature, to have to work you f**king a** off. He is going that hard because he knows I’m going to match him on the same level and that’s what it is when you make records with people that you love. It’s competitive but for the right reason. To bring the best out of each other.”

Happy Birthday, Kurupt!

Kurupt has been a part of hip-hop history since he first stormed onto the scene with his appearance on the songs “Lyrical Gangbang”, “Stranded on Death Row”, and “Bitches Ain’t Shit” from Dr. Dre’s multi-platinum solo debut The Chronic on Death Row Records in 1992. Since those incredible verse-stealing guest appearances, Kurupt has gone on to have a 30-plus year career in the music industry, making history along the way.

He was an integral part of several of hip-hop’s most classic albums including Snoop Dogg’s DoggystyleTha Dogg Pound’s Dogg Food with Daz Dillinger, and 2Pac’s All Eyez On Me, in addition to the aforementioned The Chronic with Dr. Dre, during his run on Death Row Records through the 1990s.

Throughout the 2000s Kurupt could be found smashing microphones on his many solo projects (Kuruption!Tha Streetz Iz A MuthaSpace Boogie, and Streetlights), as well various guest spots throughout the emcee’s prolific career. Kurupt has been featured on records with some of the industry’s heaviest of hitters in Scarface, Xzibit, MC Ren, Heavy D, Ant Banks, Nate Dogg, Ras Kass, Warren G, Too Short, and Ice Cube to name a few.

Phife Dawg Lives On With Posthumous Solo Album ‘Forever’ Scheduled to Drop 03/22/2022

NEW YORK, NY – November 22, 2021 – On the day of his birthday, today November 22nd, the Estate for the legendary MC Phife Dawg is proud to announce the release date of his long-awaited posthumous album, Forever. The album is set to debut on March 22nd, 2022, marking the sixth anniversary of the day he transitioned. More information can be found at @phifeforever.

Before his untimely passing in 2016, the four-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated multiplatinum New York-born MC and member of A Tribe Called Quest, spent time working on the album, partnering with trusted collaborators and assembling a catalog of songs representative of his art. He carefully assembled a collection of songs earmarked by his signature verbal fireworks, hilarious adlibs, incisive social commentary, and unexpectedly introspective confessions. With the blessing of his family and his most trusted collaborator and business partner, Dion Liverpool (Executive Producer), under their imprint Smokin’ Needles Records, his Estate is ready to unveil his pure vision and final word as a solo rapper. The album will include “Nutshell PART 2” (Ft. Busta Rhymes & Redman), which debuted earlier this year. The album will be distributed in partnership with AWAL, who will provide strategic distribution and global marketing for Phife’s solo album. Additional album details will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Of the upcoming album’s release, Phife’s mother Cheryl Boyce-Taylor (aka Mama Phife) stated, “Forever, soon come. His voice a steel pan cruising the sea salt edge of Trini waters. A balm, a salve, a son’s kiss on his mama’s cheek. What an amazing gift to receive on my beloved’s birthday. FOREVER… 3/22/22.”

His wife Deisha Taylor added, “Happy Bornday to our beloved Malik. As we celebrate his life on this day, we are overwhelmed with excitement of completing Forever. This album is truly a masterpiece and will exceed all expectations. The world will absolutely love and cherish this amazing album. Phife Dawg’s legacy will continue to live on….Forever 3-22-22…soon come!”

Dion Liverpool also said, “When I found out we were going to be able to announce his album date on his birthday, I was so excited. We faced a lot of ups and downs trying to get the album completed, and only by God’s grace and patience were we able to. I would like to thank his fans for being patient and understanding that nothing that is good and timeless will happen overnight. I took on the responsibility to help the family complete Forever and honored that I was trusted to do so. Happy bday Phifey.”

ABOUT PHIFE DAWG:

Phife Dawg carved out a place in the hip-hop pantheon as both a formidable mic force and meaningful voice for the culture. Born Malik Izaak Taylor in Queens, NY, he launched his career during the golden age of rap. In 1985, he joined forces with Q-Tip and Ali Shaheed Muhammad to launch A Tribe Called Quest and ultimately elevate the artform in terms of lyrical dexterity, social consciousness, and game-changing vision.

As part of the group, he anchored a classic discography, including the one-two punch of platinum-certified epics The Low-End Theory—regularly cited as one of the greatest hip-hop albums ever by Rolling Stone, Time, Pitchfork, and more—and Midnight Marauders. Expanding his catalog, he dropped his solo debut Ventilation: Da LP in 2000 and featured on a diverse swath of projects, including TLC’s diamond-selling CrazySexyCool and Shaquille O’Neal’s Shaq Diesel. He appeared on screen in the GRAMMY® Award-nominated documentary Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels Of A Tribe Called Quest directed by Michael Rappaport. A lifelong sports fanatic, he acted as a music consultant for The Golden State Warriors, contributed songs to the ESPY Awards, cut a theme for the Dallas Mavericks commissioned by Mark Cuban, and worked with the NFL Players Association. Not to mention, he was even a playable character in NBA2K.

After reuniting with A Tribe Called Quest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2015, he recorded with the group on its triumphant comeback opus We Got It from Here… Thank You 4 Your Service. The album arrived in the wake of his passing, but debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200, picked up a gold plaque, and landed on year-end lists by Esquire, Billboard, Q, Paste, Pitchfork, and more. Commemorating this icon, Vanity Fair noted, “He had a huge impact on a generation of artists and fans,” and The New York Times celebrated him as “a star, but also a regular person, a hero of making it through the day.” However, Kanye West put it best in a tearful eulogy, “Blame Tip and Phife ‘cause y’all raised me.”
